A picture speaks a thousand words they say. Hence, the partners of the consortium have decided to create a handbook with urban and rural green-life skills to which will be appended a toolbook to conceive, create and run summer camps.
The handbook is titled: Green-Life Skills: An Illustrative Handbook & Summer Camp Guide for Urban and Rural Europe
The handbook is targeted towards youth in an illustrative manner to help them succour themselves. As a picture speaks volumes, being more explicative and from our non-formal teaching experiences, youth are more receptive to images and illustrations to spur their creativity. Hence, the partners of the consortium have decided to create a handbook with urban and rural green-life skills to which will be appended a toolbook to conceive, create and run summer camps. This handbook will be supported by the digital platform that will allow youth to network and connect, available in six European languages. It will be available for download as a PDF from the link below, the project’s online platform and also from the partner websites.
The handbook’s first section will be gathered from the first learning and training activity that targets urban green skills, including tips to creating small gardens, hydroponics, waste management, thematics on the environment, reducing urban energy use, sustainable living to name a few.
The second section will be tailored to rural life, including using natural materials to construct structures like benches, tables, composting in the countryside, life-saving skills on first aid, etc.
The final part will be to use the previous sections and create summer camps as deemed fit in each country, mixing and match to suit the public’s needs.

Through the Online-Coordination Platform for Youth Summer Camps that targets youth wishing to network and get skills to organise summer camps in their locality, our project aims to be sustainable beyond the end of project life.
In order to support the Green-Life Skills: An Illustrative Handbook & Summer Camp Guide for Urban and Rural Europe, the online-platform will allow users to understand how to use and tailor individual items for their requirements. The interactive platform will be available in six European languages with the Green-Life Skills handbook available as a download option. The platform will have the following sections:
learn about summer camps
learn about urban climate-smart life and rural climate-smart living
steps involved to organise summer camps
checklist that tailors to age and size
option to register summer camps
receive notification on participants who wish to join
option to post items to the platform and allow others to see the experiences
tips to reduce carbon footprint
link to consultations and climate discussion at the European level
